Guidelines on use

How to use takeUon

takeUon provides anyone the opportunity to compete using images and videos with friends as well as unfamiliar users from all over the world.

The types of contests that can be created are limitless. takeUon provides a voting process whereby every user has one opportunity to vote in a contest. Contests are currently all run in the public domain.

The highest number of votes achieved within the specified time limit creates a winner. Winners' entries are displayed in the Trophy Cabinet for everyone to see.

Everyone who visits takeUon can see all the contests. When you create a contest you can decide whether you want everyone worldwide to enter your contest or just your closed group of friends. Your friends will need to be registered with takeUon to participate (link for ‘invite your friends’). As everyone can see your contest you might be approached by other users who think they can win in your category – are you going to take them on?

Registration

To compete or vote, you must register with takeUon and agree to our Terms of Use. Our process is quick and easy and should only take you a few moments. Once you've set up your password and username you then have access to the whole site.

Your Profile

We want you to share your success with your friends and the world; if you upload an image or a video of yourself it can be viewed in the public 'Trophy Cabinet' or when a user clicks on your name.

You control how much information you want people to know about you. There’s the big Trophy Cabinet where users showcase their winning entries and how successful they are in specific categories. Let us know who you are! Don’t be shy – put your picture into your profile and enjoy the fame!

Creating a Contest

Creating a contest requires you to upload an image or a video and give it a name and caption that encourages users to compete against you. The process only takes a few minutes.

Entering a Contest

Anyone can enter a contest that is 'Open for Entries'.

The process and various options are exactly the same as 'Starting a Contest'; simply upload your image or video, add a caption to explain your entry and encourage others to vote for you!

Images and videos will be removed if they do not meet our Good Site Conduct guidelines. Users also have the ability to report abuse so that unsuitable material is removed off the site as quickly as possible.

Viewing Contests

There are a range of search options on takeUon to find Contests. Using our category or search facilities will help you locate a specific theme or genre you are interested in. You can also type the users name or caption to quickly find contests.

You can view one or many images or videos and mark contests as your favourites that you can look at later.

Voting

You have to be registered to vote on takeUon.

Click the 'Taking Votes' icon or search to find what you are looking for.

To make it fair, you only get one vote per contest. The winner is of course the person with the most votes. However, if there is a tie, the user with the earliest entry date will win.

You can select through the voting process how and when you want to be contacted.

Hall of Fame

If you come first, second or third, then you will appear in the Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame is where everyone gets the chance to be famous and showcase their images or videos. Your work may inspire others to run similar contests or they may challenge you to a dual!

Reporting Abuse

We naturally want everyone to have their say and showcase their experiences and creativity. takeUon has a social responsibility, ensuring that material does not offend specific sections of our worldwide community.

At launch, there will be the facility for users to report abuse on the site. Moderators have been appointed to monitor the site and will take down any material that does not confirm with our Good Site Conduct guidelines.
